Took this photo at the office just moments after we lost power. We were excused for the afternoon because of Tropical Storm Hermina… the past 24 hours have been a little crazy. Fin is currently out of the house attending some family responsibilities. My head and heart are with her and her immediate family.

I managed to make it back home safely before they closed all the roads back to our house.

Of all the self portrait photo of the day shots I’ve done this year, today’s shot has me suspiciously absent in it. It was late at night and I remembered that I needed to take a photo. As soon as I got my camera in hand I had my cat Maisy storm the bed and if you look closely only my hand is visible. I really liked how it came out tho’.

So Fin and I have been on a seafood kick as of late and we made it over to a local place to get some Crabs. While there Fin took this photo that made me look like a gorilla pounding my chest.

Is it Fantasy Football season all-ready?

So the Paris Texan’s (my Fantasy Team) are entering year 10 of playing on Nano’s Fantasy Football League… For many of those years I would count the days to the draft and get freakishly excited for the new football season.

This year however… not so much. I did most of my research the day of and I’m pretty sure I didn’t have a solid draft. My only hope is to beat Nano in our Pistol Cup game in week 5 and attempt to make it back into the playoffs – where I haven’t been in two years.

Want to quickly give big ups to Jim Parsons of the Big Bang Theory for winning an Emmy last night for best Comedic Actor. I don’t know if this validation will help the show become more popular or not but it’s nice to see that one of my favorite characters on TV get some recognition.

The weirdest thing about it is that I actually see “Sheldon” (Jim’s TV persona) as my friend Ted… I tune in weekly to see what my friend Ted is doing…

the Switch

Made it over to the local Alamo Draft house on Saturday night to catch a screening of the Switch… It wasn’t a movie that I would normally go out of my way to see in the theater but the Summer movie offerings have been that bad this year.

The movie was a bit of a dud.. I laughed a few times and I found myself wanting to one day have a son that was just like the one featured in the movie, but I would beg that you wait for this to make it to TNT.

It occurred to me when I saw this photo that we’re not going to be living at this duplex by this time next year… which sorta sucks because I like the layout of our place. I’m not fond of the shitty parking on our street, the small yard we have for our dogs and the construction of the place is pretty spotty. It is however the first place that Fin and I lived together at.

There’s been a little void in my life… Elliot (my dog) is currently staying over at my parents house in the valley, in preparation for a trip that Fin and I are planning to take in the near future.

I’m 7 days into his little departure and its been really hard on me. I miss his presence in our bed… I miss the excited state he gets into when I come home from work… I even miss his random barking.

Helping me fill that hole in my soul is fatty Amos. He’s been coming down from upstairs when I get home every day and we’re getting into a little routine of hanging on the couch after I let Toby outside to do his business.

Afternoons at home

On any given Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday… you’ll find me quietly slipping into bed next to Sarah before she wakes up for work. I’m pretty sure I wake her up every time I lay down next to her, but I like to be there when she wakes up before work. Because of our opposite schedules – we don’t have mornings that most couples get to share.

We have all the perks of not having to wait for one person to get out of a shower or having to stuff my head underneath a pillow because my girlfriend chooses to get up after 5-snooze-button taps instead of just setting the alarm to the last possible minute.

We don’t however have the opportunity to hear an alarm go off in the morning and convince each other to call in sick to work.
