Geeks Who Drink

Posted by september29th on Oct 29 2008 | Life, San Antonio

Partook on my second Geeks Who Drink nite down at the Lion and the Rose last night…

Geeks Who Drink Nite can be best described as a quiz game held at the bar… but it’s quickly becoming one of the best excuses to get together with friends on Tuesdays.

My team placed 5th (out of 18 teams) last night and I think that we have a good shot at winning it before 2008 comes to a close.

The best part about last night was everyone coming out in Halloween costumes. Mine isn’t finished yet so I didn’t wear it out last night. It’s very close to being complete tho’.

Here’s Desi in her Chaplin.

World of GOO

Posted by september29th on Oct 25 2008 | Nintendo, Video Games, Wii

Downloaded World of Goo for the Nintendo Wii last night on the strong recommendation from my friend Karp. I can’t thank him enough for having me check this title out.

I’ve been playing it off and on the last two days and look forward to playing it again this afternoon.

The game is pretty simple… you’re basically making structures out of stretchy-goo. The game has a very curious physics engine that takes the weight of your structure into account.

If you haven’t picked this up. Do so. It rocks vicious wang.

Early Vote

Posted by september29th on Oct 25 2008 | Life

just got back from casting my vote… the State of Texas opened up its polls a few weeks early so I’ve opted to go out and get my good deed out of the way so that I can sit back on the 4th and freak quietly in front of the TV as the electoral votes come rocking in.

Poladroid

Posted by september29th on Oct 24 2008 | Apple, Pop Culture

OK. If you’re a Mac user and you miss polaroids… you need to check out this application – POLADROID.

I used it to help me make the little montage above. Below is a little photo of Elliot that I whipped up using Poladroid in seconds.

Bunsen Burger

Posted by september29th on Oct 23 2008 | San Antonio

Been meaning to post an entry about a new restaurant that opened up a little over 2 weeks ago just down the street from where I live.

The place is called “the Bunsen Burger”.

It’s a gourmet burger place that has a Sci-Fi feel to it. The food is great. I ordered the Roswell, but look forward to going back pretty soon so that I can try out some of their other offerings.

It’s located on Walzem rd. Make it a point to check it out if you’re in the area. I highly recommend the Chili, the Fries and the Vanilla Malts.

Elliot VS Bushwick Bill

Posted by september29th on Oct 22 2008 | Elliot

Can’t thank my neighbor enough for setting up a strange scarecrow-thing out side their house… I can’t keep Elliot from Freaking OUT every time we walk by it.

Which is pretty often seeing how I walk him 3 times a day.

What’s not wrong in this picture…

Posted by september29th on Oct 19 2008 | San Antonio

Lots of odd stuff occurred this weekend… below is a photo I took at a local flea market I hit up with Chivo.

We typically skip out on Flea Markets…. but the one we drove by had a marquee sign that said “Mr. Chivo” would be in attendance. Mr. Chivo turned out to be a local band of some kind…

But I digress. Here’s a photo of me next to a Selena blanket that was for sale.

a.) i hate Selena
b.) to scale… this Selena blanket is possibly the size of 2 king size beds.
c.) my nine day old mustache is barely visable…

Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist

Posted by september29th on Oct 14 2008 | Film

So the Joker, Henster and I caught Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist last night.

I had really high hopes for this one due to the sceenster soundtrack that accompanied it. The trailer led me to believe that the movie would document an insane evening shared among friends on a quest to catch a secret after party in the big apple.

I desperately wanted to sit back and have incredible flashbacks of me going to incredible aftershow parties I attended in downtown Chicago/Toronto/Detroit/NY/DC.

Instead I got a story about two introverts coming together on sorta-interesting Friday night in the city.

Total let down. I can’t believe that the movie made me appreciate the movie 200 Cigarettes

Rampage, Home Opener

Posted by september29th on Oct 12 2008 | Sports

Attended the San Antonio Rampage (Hockey) home opener last night… made some new friends while at the game too boot.

The Rampage lost the game by 2 goals but they showed some good spunk and stood up to the Milwaukee Admirals when the two teams squared up for a few scrums.

Highly recommend it for anyone interested in catching hockey in person.
