Tower Heist
Funny thing happened when I got around to watching 43 movies in 43 days… I found myself not wanting to watch a movie of any kind for an undetermined amount of time.
I caught little bits and pieces of movies in the past couple of days… but I didn’t really sit from beginning to end for a while until last night.
Got around to watching the Tower Heist, because of the following...

The Notebook
Over the weekend, ABC Family broadcasted a movie I’ve heard a lot about but never got around to seeing, The Notebook.
What I didn’t know about the movie was that Ryan Gosling was in it.
Aside the guff I’ll get for admitting I watched this movie, it was actually worth the viewing.

Accepted
Squeezed in a viewing of Accepted, while it was on Comedy Central this morning. Not sure how I haven’t gone out of my way to actually own this movie. I’ve seen it enough times to warrant the purchase of it. It also continues to make me laugh despite knowing every punchline…

Four Lions
Got around to finally watching Four Lions last night… a movie (comedy) about 4 Muslim men who have decided to become suicide bombers.
The film is a little slow at parts and I found myself not really relating to the subject matter in any way and found few laughs all the way through.
My guess is that if someone made a satirical movie about the Mexican drug war - I would find it funny and...

The Way of the Gun
If you’re a guy and it’s been years since you’ve seen a great “guy movie” - do yourself a favor and watch “The Way of the Gun”.
The movie is a “kidnap” or “heist” film of sorts… Benicio del Toro and Ryan Phillippe kidnap Juliette Lewis who is the surrogate mother of a rich married couple.
The film turns into a 2 hour long...

The Grifters
Of all the John Cusack films out there… the Grifters is one of the hardest ones for me to get through for some reason…
I’m not exactly sure why that is… some of my favorite movies revolve around con artists. It also features an amazing nude scene with Annette Bening.
I think it has a lot to do with Anjelica Houston contribution to the movie. This is my 2nd viewing of it...

7 Year Itch
On my DVR right now, sits a show called SMASH - that will have something to do with a musical involving Marilyn Monroe.
I’m sorta hoping i don’t like the show… but at the same time I’m kinda glad I threw Seven Year Itch while I made dinner tonight.
Which reminds me… i need to call my friend Heather soon. 7 Year Itch is a favorite of hers too….

Grease 2
I’m going to say something right now that is going to be pretty unpopular with anyone who is a fan of both film or musicals…
I not only like Grease 2 but I kinda prefer it over the original.
I’m not exactly sure what spurred my interest in watching this again, other than It showed up in my Netflix queue as a movie I may enjoy watching again.
Netflix queue was correct.

Moog
I got to play with a Moog in person (once) about 6 years ago when my roommate Jaime had his cousin Will come up to Detroit for a music festival (NxNW) in Toronto.
I’ve never had so much fun emitting noise outward and thought to myself - I could get one of these and never want to put it down.
I picked up a Moog app for my iPad a few months ago and while I don’t play with it very...

Revenge of the Nerds
One of the nice things about getting up early on Saturday is catching a movie on Comedy Central… the programing gods were on my side this morning and I got to re-watch a favorite of mine - Revenge of the Nerds.

Harold and Maude
Fell asleep watching the movie Harold and Maude last night… it’s been years since I had seen the movie. I forgot how Cat Steven heavy it was too.

Every Day
I wish I could find a copy of the Netflix movie poster for the movie “Every Day”… I envisioned the movie being a little romantic comedy about Liev Schreiber choosing between Helen Hunt (who peeled like 25 pounds off) and the sultry Carla Gugino.
The film however is about Live Schreiber dealing with a couple of silly issues and him getting a pass on cheating on his wife (Helen...

Eames: The Architect and the Painter
Watched a beautiful documentary today on Netflix called “Eames: the Architect and the Painter”
It looked at the creative and loving relationship between Charles and Ray Eames. A relationship I didn’t really know very much about outside of their work with their Herman Miller efforts.
It was amazing to see their contributions to film, art and architecture.
I am constantly...

Until the Light Takes Us
A few years ago I picked up a book called “Lords of Chaos: the Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground”… an outline of sorts that starts with the origins of “Heavy Metal” progressing up to Norwegian Black metal scene.
If you’re not familiar with the subject and you’d rather not delve to deeply into this word - I recommend checking out the...

Just for Kicks
While looking for some decent things to add to my Netflix instant stream queue - I ran across this documentary called - Just for Kicks.
A documentary behind the subculture of collecting sneakers.
All in all, the doc was an enjoyable viewing… a little too NYC centric at times. I think good sneaker design doesn’t get made in “Brooklyn”.
Wish I could seek out sneakers more...

The Taking of Pelham 123
The remake of “The Taking of Pelham 123” was on this morning on FX… a movie I saw and sorta forgot all about a number of years ago - but it’s always good to see Travolta sorta turn in terrible acting performances.
I never saw the original but I got around to thinking that I might do a whole week of Originals and Remakes this week on the blog.
A theme of sorts to sorta...

Orgazmo
I’ve been putting off watching Orgazmo for well over a decade…
The movie is a favorite of my friend Jaime’s, but I never got around to watching it.
I sorta knew that it was about a couple of guys doing weird porno movies but I didn’t know that one of the characters actually created a laser gun that actually gives people orgasims.
Funny enough, the movie touches on...

Mary and Max
Watched a very rewarding movie today, titled “Mary and Max”.
I didn’t know very much about it, with the exception that it was the only Philip Seymor Hoffman (voice for max) movie that I hadn’t seen yet.
The film is a claymation movie about a pair of souls who keep in touch through a series of letters across the world.
The two never actually meet in their lifetimes but...
