We had an Earth Day related party at work today and I managed to walk home with a prize of sorts…

Bougainvillea spectabilis

To be exact….   Had to place it on my patio, because Amos took a liking to chewing on its leaves. Need to come up with a name for it.

With the NFL draft on in the background, it seemed like a good idea to make it a pasta night.

After having many a drink at a local Yelp event and then a few more over at the Tilted Kilt, I decided to cap the night with a visit to Wataburger.

good times

A couple of weeks ago, I picked this up thinking it was all hooey.  Turns out, I was pretty wrong.  A couple of sprays before bed and I find myself sleeping much easier.

The only thing I ever ask is just 40 minutes to myself when I get home so I can take in a full episode of PTI without interruption.

The pets for the most part, comply with the request…  here’s Amos joining me on the couch for a viewing.

Can we just say that having a Matt Bonner commemorative cup, may possibly be a low point for me having to live in the city of San Antonio.

When I got around to thinking that I needed to have a home office set up at my apartment, I sorta envisioned having a place I would occasionally sit down at from time to time.

Turns out the space is getting used a lot more than I ever imagined.

21 Jump Street

Of all the movies I’ve seen this Spring, the movie I had the lowest expectations for was 21 Jump Street.

A show I vaguely remembered growing up… but I do recall thinking that Richard Grieco was the coolest of them all.

Anyhoo…  if you haven’t seen this movie, it’s a must watch.

Muppets

Also got around to seeing the new Muppet movie a few weeks ago…  saw this largely in part because my friend Heather is a huge Muppets fan.

I’m sorta into seeing stuff Jason Segel is involved with too tho’.

Despite the many good reviews, I kinda thought the film was missing something.  I’m not exactly sure what… but it sorta felt like it skewed young.   Which I know was their intention, but it didn’t seem to have anything for an older audience.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

A couple of weeks ago I watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, when it occurred to me that I never got around to adding it to my list of movies I’ve seen in 2012.   Actually, I have a short list of movies I need to add to this thing so I’ve made some time to add them over the weekend.

Anyhoo…  I never read the book and the original movie has been in my Netflix queue possibly longer than any other movie I currently have bookmarked to check out.

When I got word that it was going to be remade for American audiences by David Fincher - I opted to just wait it out till it made it to theaters.

I couldn’t seem to find anyone to go with me so I opted to wait till it made it to DVD and made the mistake of throwing it in around 9pm.

The movie is freakishly long…  i’m not sure if the movie stays true to the book or if it’s a shot-for-shot remake of the foreign one, but its really fucking long.

A little confusing at first too…    Going into the movie I wasn’t exactly sure how all the pieces (the characters) were going to intertwine themselves.

It does, it just kinda takes it sweet time doing so.   The film then goes on for an extra 45 minutes after the case is over to establish a relationship for what I think will be future films…

all it all, it was ok to watch - i just wish it was 40 minutes shorter.
